Top 7 Ways to Celebrate the Feast of the Archangels

Today Catholics celebrate the Feast of the Archangels: Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. This is such a  fun feast to celebrate with children! Here are the top 7 ways you can celebrate the Archangels in your domestic church:

1. Color in these adorable Archangels courtesy of Happy Saints. (Fun option: have kids cut out and glue on popsicle sticks, then act out the biblical and legendary accounts involving the angels!)

2. Make super easy angel art with your little one's hands and feet.

3. Whip up and decorate this delicious devil's food cake or this really fun angel food cake on top of devil's food cake (to represent St. Michael hurling Satan from Heaven, of course).

4. Try your hand at dragon bread.

5. Pray to and ask the Archangels for their intercession:
Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Gabriel
Blessed Saint Gabriel, we beseech you to intercede for us at the throne of divine mercy: As you announced the mystery of the Incarnation to Mary, so through your prayers may we receive strength of faith and courage of spirit, and thus find favor with God and redemption through Christ Our Lord. May we sing the praise of God our Savior with the angels and saints in heaven forever and ever. Amen.

Raphael
Blessed Saint Raphael, we beseech you to help us in all our needs and trials of this life, as you, through the power of God, restored sight and gave guidance to young Tobit. We humbly seek your aid and intercession, that our souls may be healed, our bodies protected from all ills, and that through divine grace we may become fit to dwell in the eternal Glory of God in heaven. Amen.

6. Read aloud the book of Tobit for the story of St. Raphael helping Tobit and Tobias.

7. Make a dragon pinata and have at it! (Make it more festive by dressing up.)

Pictures to come of our feast day celebration!
